Our One Year LID-versary!

I can not believe I just typed this. We have reached our one year anniversary of the date our paperwork (dossier) was logged in by China. We never had this when we waited for Brynn since that wait was only 6 months 4 days. We are happy that one year is out of the way, but sad that we are still waiting. Is our second child born, even conceived? Is she waiting for us to come and get her? We just don't know. The wait is so hard.

Please know baby girl that we love you even though you aren't with us. We think of you everyday. And you have a little girl waiting for you that can't wait to be a great big sister.

So Happy Anniversary to all of those with an August LID.

Last Night

Last night at 1:54 I heard the pitter patter of little feet. Brynn was running to our bed. Kevin grabbed her and got her in our bed so that we could all go back to sleep. At 2:06, Brynn hits Kevin's back.

B: Time to get up Daddy.
K: Not yet. It's only 2 in the morning.
B: Ok Daddy

At 2:14:
B: Mommy, what's in your hands? (They are under my pillows.)
J: Nothing Brynn. Go back to sleep.
B: Ok, Mommy.

At 2:26
B: Is Jesse (our dog who is outside) done sneezing?
K: What?
J: What? Is she done sleeping?
B: No, Mommy. Is she done sneezing?
J: Yes, Brynn. Jesse is done sneezing. She is asleep in her house.
B: Ok, Mommy.

Thankfully she makes much more sense when she is awake!

The company picnic

The jumpy things must be really big this year. This is the second time this year we went to a party that had one. Brynn is a a very cautious and has to warm up to her surroundings before she will join in. This is something I have to remember about her, because I am not like that. I expect her to be like me and I know she isn't. Something new to learn everyday when you are a parent!

She loved the slide on the playground, but would not slide down the one in the jumpy thing. She just sat at the top for 5 minutes, then climbed down the steps. We were hoping that Kevin would have to go get her, but she came down by herself. Darn. I would have had some good pictures of that.

It was so cold and rainy this Sunday. We actually broke a record for the lowest high tempurature. It was 64 degrees. I think Mother Nature forgot it was August!

Mommy look what I made!!

Oh the joys of being a 3 year old and not knowing that this isn't a beautifully sculpted piece of art. (Well, to us it is beautiful, but we are blind when it comes to her.)

It's been 14 years...

I can't believe it has been 14 years since my mom died. This is a picture of her that we found while going thru our old photo albums.

My dad's hay is award winning

This has got to be one of the funniest things to happen to us recently. We went to the county fair last night. We ran into my cousin who told us that her stepson won First Place in the hay competition. Well, this is the hay from our farm. I'm pretty sure that Dad never won any farm competitions while he was alive (ok, maybe when he was younger), but he is now.

Yes, I admit it. We are hicks. We're excited about the hay winning first place.

Brynn loved looking at the animals, but not too fond of touching them. Such a stinker!

Leaving the fair after a night of fun.

Our Weekend

We had such a great weekend. It cooled down a little-It was only in the high 80s as compared to the high 90s. We went swimming Saturday. Brynn is getting comfortable in the water, but I think we are going to look into water lessons, not necessarily swimming lessons, just something so that she becomes more comfortable. On Sunday, we went to Grandma's Weaver's and met Kevin's cousins there again then went to their house for a picnic. The girls love playing together. The playroom was trashed, but what do you expect with 2 3 year olds and a 5 year old?

Daddy helped me build this. Isn't it neat?

"Helping" Daddy

Brynn got a steering wheel for her swing set for her birthday from Pappy and Grandma. Kevin decided to install it last night. These are pictures of Brynn with her toolbox "helping".

You are my sunshine...

Brynn loves her bath crayons. Kevin hates them. (He is the one who cleans the tub!) She drew a sunshine last night and was so proud of it. This is one of the best faces I have seen recently in pictures. So natural. No cheesy smile here.

She's a "Magician"?

I know this is a picture of her with a drum. But try to talk a 3 year old out of something. She's a "magician" not a "musician". Just ask her. And by the way, if she asks for a turtleneck, she is asking for the yellow recorder. Again, can't change her mind.

This is actually a present from Uncle and V. They sent money to Brynn for her birthday and she was supposed to buy a guitar, but saw this and fell in love. So, thanks, Uncle and V. The present is wonderful (and very loud).

Don't take a 3 year old...

Don't take a 3 year old when you want to go looking for deer. Brynn really doesn't know the word quiet!! Scared every deer away for miles.

August Referrals

Our agency got referrals yesterday for the 11/17/05 LID group. This means nothing to us other than we have less people in front of us waiting. CCAA also posted that every dossier logged in prior to June 30,2 2006 is out of the review room. That means we are almost being reviewed.

And the wait continues...

EEK!!

I know I have posted pictures previously about the cute wildlife that we find in our yard--bunnies, turkeys eggs, you get the idea. Well Kevin almost stepped on this while he was watering our garden last night:

All I can say is EEK! He was about 5.5 feet long and black as coal. We have seen black snakes before, but nothing this big. Isn't country living grand?

Happy Birthday Brynn!!! Part 2

Last night we celebrated Brynn birthday--just the 3 of us.

She unwrapped her presents from us with the help of TT (She calls our cat TT) TT loves presents and bows. Brynn got fingerpaints, a tool box (to help Daddy), and a tutu. What a combination, ha?

We are so blessed by this little girl.

Happy birthday, baby girl. We love you.

Happy Birthday Brynn!!!

Our big girl is 3 today!! I can not believe that we have been home from China long enough for her to be 3. She is such an amazing girl.

Last night we had some of the grandparents over for a picnic and cake. She wanted cupcakes with purple icing. She ended up with cupcakes with Little Mermaid rings on them. What 3 year old doesn't love plastic rings? We also got a chocolate cookie for her. And all were served on purple plates with purple napkins and purple silver ware! Can you tell her favorite color is purple? Grandma and Pappy got her a couple of books and a steering wheel for her swingset. Grammy got her a lot of little stuff and lots of dollar bills.

This morning, she got to open her package from Uncle and V. Such a cute outift!! They also sent money so that she can buy a guitar. Yes, she wants a guitar so we will be going shopping for one soon.

Brynn woke up asking to open her presents from Mommy and Daddy. I told her that Daddy wasn't home so we couldn't open them yet. She just looked at me and said "Daddy won't care". What a stinker. By the way, Daddy would have cared!!

Tonight, it is just the 3 of us celebrating with her. Hope she likes our presents!
