This is what I woke up to...
Kevin's garden is to the left. Look at the size of those sunflowers!! They look like huge hedges. I'll have to remember to get a picture of Brynn with them.

Swimming
Brynn started swimming lessons at the beginning of the summer and has really enjoyed it. She is now is "Level 2" and thinks she is such a big girl.
We, of course, are not allowed to take pictures of her in her classes because of the privacy act, so here is one from Sunday night at my friend's house. She looks happy, ha?

Captain Hook?
I am not artsy, creative, or even that good with glue, but Brynn wanted to be Captain Hook. We are preparing for our trip to see Mr. Big Ears, so we are watching a lot of movies. Peter Pan is the movie of the week.
So in between making supper, cleaning up supper, preparing zucchini and peppers to make marinara sauce, and snapping and freezing quarts and quarts of green beans, we made her into Captain Hook. Let's just say it's a good thing that she has a great imagination.
She found a coat (her spring coral and white gingham jacket) and a hat (a lilac ball cap with Tinkerbell on it). We made a telescope (construction paper rolled up and secured with tape), a feather (foil cut in the shape of a feather; why oh why didn't I use construction paper for that too?), and a hook (made from foil). If only I could have figured out how to make an eye patch that didn't require me super glue-ing it onto her face. (Just kidding. I wouldn't have used super glue. Maybe some Elmer's, but never super glue.)
She played with this all night. And everything went to Grammy's house today with her so that she can be Captain Hook all day. Isn't Grammy the lucky one?

Fresh Green Beans
That's what we ate last night--fresh green beans that we picked from our garden. And they were delicious. Brynn had so much fun picking, snapping and eating them. It was so cute. We also got zucchini, cucumbers, sugar snap peas, peppers, onions and lettuce. Kevin is enjoying this garden so much. I just wish all of the cucumbers didn't ripen at the same time. Yikes.
Brynn and I planted this sunflower in a dixie cup in early spring. She is so excited about the size of it.

On our way home...
We decided to do the trip home from Raleigh in 2 days and do some sight seeing before heading home. Kevin and I love nature. We love to walk through woods and point out animals and bugs, trees and plants. Brynn is slowly starting to love this too. And really does she have a choice? She's 3. She goes where we go.

Chinapalooza 2008
This weekend we were in Raleigh for our 2nd travel group reunion. It was wonderful seeing all the girls and the adults. This is a group of people that make us laugh out loud a lot. They are so much fun. We truly enjoy their company and we love seeing the kids together.

Wow! Referrals
Can you believe it is referral time already?
And China made it all the way to January 25th!!
Wow! (Sarcasm is now dripping from the computer)
According to ChinaAdoptionForecast.com, our expected referral date is 8-19-11. Yes, that is 2011. And there are 217 LIDs in front of us.
Isn't that great news?
Totally sucks.

Our 4th of July Weekend
We had such a great (and busy) weekend. We were surprised with a phone call from my sister saying that she and my brother-in-law were coming home. It was wonderful spending time with them.
